I am wondering if it is possible (I know anything is possible)(Has anyone done or heard of it being done) to replace the deck on a Mk. III with one from a Mk. II. I would just have to go from the cockpit bulkhead forward.

The change from the original hull and deck to what C&C called the Mk II hull and deck (which we call the Mk III and IV) primarily involved stretching the cockpit and bumping the hull at the waterline. However, if you crawl over the two boats, you'll see a myriad of small changes that could affect how the bulkheads fit, etc., where the chain-plates attach, how the bow is finished and so on. I'd want to take very careful measurements before even thinking about such a project.

If you don't mind, can you tell us why this project is gestating and how you come to have two boats to work with? And as usual, if the project does advance, we must have photos for Black Arts.

Hi David,

thanks for the info. I purchased the Mk. III 4 years ago and never put it in the water. The deck has delaminated bad, to the unsafe point. In order to get it usable I need a new deck. A MK. II has come onto the market (close by)that has a good deck but needs other work. I realized the cockpit stretching issue but was not aware of all the others. I will surely look closely prior to attempting the switch. If worse comes to worse I plan to part the boat out.

Best Regards
