I have inherited a 1974 C&C 27' from a friend. The inboard motor died years ago and he replaced with a nice Tohatsu 9.8hp 4 stroke outboard, but the motor mount to which it is attached WILL NOT BUDGE. Cannot lower. It has four springs.   We have tried liquid wrench, banging on the bracket and brute force. Any suggestions?

Things that WILL NOT BUDGE when cutting oil and force are applied usually have some demonic "safety feature" carefully hidden somewhere. If you're trying to push the motor down, try the other way and pull it up a bit. Watch carefully - anything that moves is likely the actuator of the dreaded idiot-proofing device.
