I agree with what you are saying David. When I purchased my boat it was moored in a prominent Victoria BC marina. I went through my zincs in less than 1.5 months - no nasty wiring on my boat! I have since moved my boat to Anderson cove, on its own mooring buoy - My 8 month old zincs are still in good shape! This is a testament to what you are stating. I don't want to stir up a hornets nest, but I will not be mooring my boat in a marina like that again if I can help it.

#2 Re: General discussion » Volvo Penta fit for a C&C 27??? » 2014-04-07 03:54:37

Thanks Gerard,
Have inquired with Beta. They are not far from where I live here on Vancouver Island. I am expecting the cost will be prohibitive. We shall see.  Yes, Beta got back to me in a timely fashion (good on them) and a 14hp Beta Diesel will coat me about $8.5K with me doing the install. That's $2K more than I paid fop the boat! I shall keep on the teardown & assess my Atomic 4 path - then will make a decision. Boat is otherwise sound. Thanks everyone for your feedback. Appreciated!

Thanks David. I did the measuring and it is more work than I can commit to right now. I am in the process of tearing down my Atomic 4 and assessing if it is worth rebuilding.

Does anyone know if a Volvo Penta model MD7B 2 would fit in place of an Atomic 4? I have read a few posts of Yanmar swaps being done, but nothing of the Volvo/Penta. I am new to all this. Bought a 27 last summer and the Atomic 4 has more issues than worth fixing. I cruise along the west coast of BC and need a reliable diesel. Any feedback is appreciated.

#5 Re: General discussion » MK I Sail cover » 2013-08-09 14:16:57

Cheers Ken.
This would be awesome. If you don't mind me asking, what condition would it be in? My wife and I just purchased the boat and the sail cover that was on it fell apart when we went to take it off.
I don't mind paying for shipping if it is in good condition. Please let me know. This is all new and very exciting for us.
Thanks kindly.
Peter
