the MKII I have now has the standard bilge with small, to my hands anyway, openings to access the bolts and bilge. I do remember though, at one time, seeing on this site, an owner describing how they cut away portions of the fiberglass supporting the wood bilge covering, with no adverse consequences. By adverse I mean putting the wood covering back in place, then inadvertently stepping on it, and your foot cracking the wood and falling straight into the bilge. If anyone has experience in this please let me know. The reason I ask is that I am re-installing a bilge pump and want some more room to access, and evaluate which pump will fit and which to use. Thanks everyone.

1973, C&C 27, #332. While working on some stuff topside I stepped along side my starboard handrail and it split. Now I have two pieces of handrail, not one. Anyone ever had to replace their handrails? If so, where did you find them. If you fabricated some new ones, any pictures or descriptions would be helpful. Thanks.

Thank you for the quick and informative reply. The cover that the sailmaker described has some sort of tying up, or loop thing at the end, kind of to tidy up I guess. Most, if not all the covers that I have looked at down here are open ended. The way the sailmaker described the one he suggested was that it tied up at the end so that wasps and such couldn't access the sail. Does that sound right? Anyway, The boat is not so close I can run up and measure, but close enough so that I can take a day off and measure. I want to get it right. My boat, #332 has boom end sheeting. I sometimes wonder if during the production runs, even when slight changes are made, the factory uses up all the "leftover" stuff from the first run, then when that is gone, use the new modifications stuff. The reason I say  that is that from all the pictures I can find, my boat has a pretty blue hued cloth that I have only seen in the MKIII's. Again, thanks for the info. I'm sure between running up and taking a few measurements and listening to folks who know way more than me, it'll work out just fine.

Hello everyone. I'm getting a mainsail cover made from Sportech Sails in Ontario. I live in Atlanta, Georgia. There are so many C&C 27's up there, I figured a "local" canvas shop would be more apt to know what a sailcover for a 1973 C&C27 looks like, instead of guessing like a local shop down here would have to do. Anyway, here's my question. In the specs section of this site, a MKI shows an "E" measurement of 10.5. A MKII shows an "E" measurement of 9.5. My boat is hull number 270332, which makes her a MKII. But as I read further in the description, the paragraph said there is no difference in the "E" specs of a MKI and MKII. So, which is it?

Hey guys, I have a 1973 C&C 27, MKll.  Looking for a mainsail cover and yankee bag, as my head sail hanks on.  If you know of a marine canvas shop that makes them great.  I'm in Atlanta and both my marine canvas shops that focus on sailboats have closed up.  Any info would be helpful.  Also looking for topside teak handrails, stepped on one for support the other day and it broke, so there you go. Again, any info or pointing in a direction would be helpful.
