A New Engine For Redeemed

Redeemed, a C&C27 Mk V, was brought from Maryland to Lake Simcoe in Ontario. The new owner of Redeemed, Brian Lagerquist, suspected the engine, a 1GM10 Yanmar, had ingested some salt water. It ran rough, was very noisy and vibrated more than Brian felt was reasonable. After a bit of research, he bought a Beta Marine BZ482 (13.9HP), built in England but sold from the United States. The engine is about the same size and weights a little less than the original Yanmar.

"The new engine is fabulous," says Brian. "I am not a mechanic and neither are the two guys who helped me, but we did it. It took 22 hours to complete the job. After we were finished we had a real sense of accomplishment."
