I have a 1976 Mark 111 that I purchased last year. She has been a great boat so far and alot of fun. One item that needs to be repaired is the autohelm st4000. The motor works and can engage the wheel steering but the directions are no good.  I found a manual and the only thing I could possilby try was to recalibrate the compass, which did not work,  Any ideas from anyone regarding how to fix this?

Thanks for the response Towser to my last question, will be following thru on your recommendations. The marina is dredged and we took the boat out with some nice wind, boat sailed really well,  now I understand what you are all talking about! The motor has been working flawlessly until tonight we were dousing the sails for motoring back into marina. I followed the procedure,  and pushed the starting button and....nothing.  It's like there was absolutely no energy going to the starter.  Scratched my head wondering why,  and after a few tries,  all of a sudden it started like nothing was wrong. This of course is concerning I thought we were going to have to sail in to marina,  has anyone had this happen? Bad switch? Starter seems real strong. any ideas?  I plan on buying the Moyer manual but have not yet. Doug M

I have recently acquired a 75 mark III and have limited knoweldge but this association has been very helpful. Havent been able to sail as marina is dredging,  and the 4 ft 6 draft is a problem until done.  One question I have right now is the boat came with a bunch of extra parts. This filter is in a box brand new.  There is already a smaller fuel filter on this boat,  and very old gas in tank,  at least two yrs old.  Should I be draining out this old fuel, installing this Racor?  Where is best place to install?   Does this replace the little filter?   the engine starts up very nicely.  Any help is appreciated.Doug M
