Rudder sensor

I gather from several more knowledgeable friends that a rudder sensor would optimize my Raymarine/Autohelm 4000 wheelpilot, an opinion corroborated by Raymarine literature. That said, has anyone installed one in a 27? If so, I'd appreciate some advice, principally how it is attached to the quadrant, especially in such a tight space. Thanks in advance.

Re: Rudder sensor

Ken, did you ever end up mounting the Rudder Sensor?  I am about to install a Raymarine 4000 into Carriden and have been debating whether or not to include the sensor, as some vendors have told me that it is only really required on Catalinas <img src="emoticons/icon_question.gif">.  At the boat show, the Raymarine technician told me that it was feasible to mount the sensor upside-down to the bottom of the cabin sole and then simply reverse the leads where they connect to the back of the control head.

Please let me know what you did and how you made out.
Thanks,
Marcus

Re: Rudder sensor

Serendipitous that you should ask. That's on next week's to-do list. I'll let you know how it works out. By the way, thanks for the suggestion that I use a toerail-mounted snatchblock. That too shall be tried next week. Meantime, there's a weekend of sailing ahead. Ciao.
