Shortening the Boom

Hi all,

Considering shortening the boom on my '73 mkII (oval, roller furling type) by possibly 12-15 inches for a couple of reasons. 1st, I'm 6'8" tall (self explanatory) 2nd to make room for a bimini. Has anyone done this? Any comments, or advice would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Ian
