Last time we got off topic very quickly. Great discussion of backstay tension, and fraculators but that wasn't really the question. The question was, has anyone converted from single back stay to split backstay, and what reinforcing did they put in place to support the two new chainplates. Does anyone know the forces that the backstay would be subjected to? I suppose the chainplate should be designed to withstand at least a force equal to the breaking stength of the shroud. This would seem to require more than just a small backing plate on the underside of the rear deck. How are the factory equiped split backstay boats reinforced?
