Mk IV Mast Height Above Water Line

Does anyone know the specific answer?  The "Rig Ht." listed under "Specifications" for the Mark IV states 37' 0".  Yet "I" is also 37' 0".  "I" is not measured from the water line so the official mast height above water line should be greater.

Re: Mk IV Mast Height Above Water Line

It should be relatively easy to determine the mast height about the water if you know the I dimention.  The I is measured from the the top of the main sheave to the deck (in the plane of the mast).  Take a guess at the distance from the sheave to the masthead then measure the distance from the deck to the water on both port and starboard (again in the plane of the mast) with no one on board on a calm day.  Add the average of the deck to water distances and add your guess to the I.

"I" is defined as the dimension from the deck level to the masthead. Add the height of the deck above the water to "I", to get masthead-above-water level.

A rough measurement (in the dark last night) suggests you add 4.5 feet (waterline to mast step) to detemine your overall height.
