C&C 27 MKV chainplate cover rebed

I bought a 1984 C&C 27 MKV last year and noted a leak from my port side chainplate.  Question is, how difficult is it to rebed the cover?  It looks to me as if the whole chainplate needs to be removed to rebed the cover?  Any suggestions.

Re: C&C 27 MKV chainplate cover rebed

Hi
You are correct - it is one solid piece with with the flange on the deck on top and the Cain plate bolted to the bulkhead below
If I remember correctly one of the fasteners is a screw not a bolt.
It’s pretty easy to unbolt it, pry it out, clean off the old bedding and then rebel it.
Some 5200 remover spray will make it go faster

5200 remover spray is a thing?  I thought 4200 was for bedding and 5200 was forever...
