I just had a PSS Shaft Seal installed on my 1974 27 (along with a new shaft, the old one being scarred from the neglect of a previous owner.) So far it is working as advertised. Pura Vida has been converted to a Yanmar 2GM and the clearance between the end of the coupler and the shaft seal is under 1". I'm not sure if the Yanmar is longer or shorter than the original Atomic four. So far so good.
