Porthole installation on MK4

Hello all,
I would like to install an opening port on the aft bulkhead next to the companionway.  I'm hesitating because of the cabin liner.  How do you deal with cutting out the liner?  Do you cut it over size for the inside port frame?  How do you seal the gap between the liner and the bulkhead?  Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Franko

Re: Porthole installation on MK4

Although I can't advise you on a port installation, when we completely went thought our 1973 C&C 27, we removed the Signet instruments on the cockpit bulkhead, patched them over, and repainted the vessel.  We then installed a 9 inch Raynav Multi Function Display as replacement for the old instruments, and I simply and caulked the opening, inserted the MFD, and mechanically secured it in place with the hardware provided by Raynav.  No problems.
