We have a couple small boat wrecking yards in Ontario , fairly new business couple of years now . In the states there is a some large yards east coast & west coast never hurts to make the inquiry . South shore yachts has a used one listed on their site but asking more money for it than a new one from Phils Foils maybe point that out to them and change his pricing thought process in your favour

Peter,
I just did the same thought process with my boat Katara . I bought the boat last fall from a marina that had sheriff papers on it for non payment of storage . So after i bought the boat i found the Atomic 4 was in poor condition and most likely why the owner walked away from it . i priced out electric drives and diesel options & then i found a really good Atomic for sale and price and value of the boat made that the choice . keep Googling Atomic 4 they come up more often than you would think .

David , your link didn't open? LaSalle Burlington has such bad electrics that my customer's paint is being boiled off , huge areas electrolysis around the drives and through hulls from stray current

When go to the Volvo Penta website there is an engine configurator
http://www.volvopenta.com/volvopenta/na/en-us/marine_leisure_engines/engine_configurator/Pages/engine_configurator.aspx
if you fallow the steps for a c&c 27 they suggest their saildrives thats alot of mods
Beta has a swap out engine that fits the mounts perfect and the coupler

From St. Catharines I think either Brewer's Or Dowsar's in Hamilton would be the closest .
Leo at Brewer's is very knowledgeable when it comes to C&C rigging . Martin at Dowsar's is very good as well. I would take the Bottlescrew in with me to match up , on 30 plus year old boat how many times has the rigging been changed are the turnbuckles original ?

Maybe it's sounding better in my head than my actual typing . the way you ran your topping lift back to the cockpit using the top brindle , use the bottom brindle and run the down haul through a block back as well

another thought install a block just below your steaming light and run it back though a block on the mast step then through the organizer back to the clutch . both work well

how are you running the line now? there is 4 mast head Sheaves how many are using? My boat i have two triple rope clutches either side . i run three halyards , one not in use one is my
spinaker pole and spin hal is rope with a block at the masthead . so using the fourth sheave i run my pole halyard . the reason i suggested store to the mast i won't drill holes in the deck so , install one eye at the height the pole will attach when flying and one the length of the pole higher and disconnect the top and control with the line to the cockpit . Sorry i do a lot of singlehanded sailing and like everything quick and easy

If it was me i'd buy two Single Eye Spinnaker Pole Mast Brackets and store the pole on the mast and use the lower eye to to attach the shackle to when not using the the pole and keep the haul line in the deck organizer and rope clutch

Plumbing anti-freeze (usually pink or purple) can be either Propylene based or alcohol based. If it's alcohol based, it should not be used in engines as a coolant as the alcohol will attack rubber seals and hoses. Also, its protection is dramatically reduced if it mixes with water and thus is not a good choice given what we're trying to achieve here -- freeze protection. I always look for -100 so hopefully water doesn't weaken it beyond the actual outside temp. The bilge isn't four sided so you don't get expansion pressure like in the internal passages of your engine and cracking . I wet vac mine out and thats it.

James @ http://www.docksidechandlery.com/ in Bronte is the local dealer for Electric Yacht
i was considering going electric but i'm kinda cheap and went with a rebuilt atomic . James was very helpfull explaining the system to me . If money was no object i'd go with the Elco system though http://www.elcomotoryachts.com/quote-request.shtml?camefrom=2

When i bought my mk 3 the halyards where in bad shape . This winter i was shopping for new Halyards . I asked Klacko first seeing as we're friends , Danny was the highest price point . I talked to red point ropes (Barrie) at the boat show , second highest price . I e-mailed Yates rigging great prices , only draw back was the shipping of my hardware out to them costs . I then Talked with Leo Reise at Brewer's Marine in Hamilton , same price as Yates no shipping charges . Leo made me up new rope to wire Halyards and whipped my rope ends for $120.00 a halyard .

I use interlux's 202 solvent wash (dewaxer) best potion & lotion on the market . It's always a good idea to remove your old wax from time to time and stop build up and yuckie old yellowing wax . By the way spray nine and Zep cleaners accelerate oxidation in Gel-coat by leaving a film in the pores . Again AQUA BUFF to remove oxidation

I've been using Aqua Buff for years on my own boat and my clients boats it's what works period. It can be used on the non skid , it's messy and dusty though . I go through the whole deck , not expecting to remove the product with the polisher . My goal is to work the product over the surface to open the pores of the gel-coat and dig out the oxidation . then with hot water , the hotter the better and lil starbright non skid cleaner i scrub out the aqua buff from the non skid leaving gorgeous shiny deck . I find personally if you wax the paste wax from 3M out performs any liquid wax on the market and you use a lot less product saving you money in the end.

Steve,
How are you reefing now ? My mark 3 boom came with the blocks on it to run tack lines back to the cockpit via the deck organizer and rope clutch.
