Today I sent out our Membership drive email. It's supposed to be annual, but I've been remiss lately. However...
I got 70 emails returned with bad addresses and about ten "I've sold my 27" letters. I've deleted the addresses for the ten, but the other 70 can't just be left in the database and sent out year after year. Therefore, I am going to delete them (when I have time - it's a dreary process). I don't want to delete an active registration, though, so if you've changed your email in the last three years, please go into Your Profile (above) and update. It's a pain to delete an address, but it's even more of a pain to reinstate one.
Thank you.

Greetings.
If you are registered on this Forum, you will already have seen this letter. If you haven't signed up, but want to support what we do here, read on.
~~~
We’d like you to join the C&C 27 Association, if you don’t already belong (and if you recently renewed, please accept our apologies). This is the first membership drive since 2011, so we hope you’ll read it through.
As a C&C 27 owner, you already know you’re sailing one of the best production boats ever built. As a registered contributor to our Web site’s Forum, you already know
- that since 1999, the 27 Association’s Web site has told you everything you need to know about the history and development of your C&C 27;
- that you have instant access to the site’s detailed information on major setup and maintenance issues, along with sources for the supplies you need to make a confident, long-lasting fix for whatever ails your boat; and
- that whenever you need more, a network of interested 27 sailors will give you the benefit of their experience and unbiased advice on our lively Forum - within days if not hours.
You may not know, though, that we need your help to keep it going. All of the Association’s work is done by volunteers, 27 owners like you, planning, organizing, working on the Web site and so on. Hosting a Web site, though, is not free, and hosting a photo-rich site like ours is more expensive than hosting a simple text site.
Why not join the sailors from Lake Michigan to Florida who support our site and our work to maintain interest in the C&C 27 (and support its value). For just $25.00 (see payment details on the form below), you’ll receive:
- a year’s membership in the 27 Association;
- access to an Acrobat pdf copy of the original C&C 27 owner’s manual;
- a nylon class flag you’ll be proud to fly (first-time members only).
Support the 27! Support the Association! Join us today!
Sincerely,
Larry Bayer,
President C&C 27 Association
A non-profit volunteer association of C&C 27 owners
PS: I’ve attached a text version of our membership form. I hope I’ll be hearing from you soon.
Annual dues are $25.00 Cdn. or $25.00 US. There are instructions on a variety of workarounds to post pics in the Forum. See http://www.cc27association.com/site/view.html - "Using photos in your posts".
You asked your question in an earlier post and nobody answered. I can understand your frustration, but it happens. However, that does not mean I will countenance multiple posts on the same subject. So... this thread will be locked and it will disappear at the end of the week.
When something like this happens, consider instead giving your original post a more descriptive headline. Your first headline gave little clue as to what you are looking for, but there's no need to stop there - you can edit both your headline and your post. Look at it and try to think what a visitor might make of it. Does it give the reader an incentive to open the thread? Answer? have made a shot at it but you're welcome to improve if desired.
As I'm tinkering with The Fleet, I thought I might check if its entries are valid. There have to be some owners who have moved on - The Fleet is one of the oldest parts of the site, and I've only had one email telling me that the boat has been sold. I know we all love our boats, but...
So, if you are listed in The Fleet but have moved on or out, or if you know of a boat that's changed hands, please let me know.
- Admin
I had been planning to catch up on my Fleet submissions today, but have found that all recent and unposted information has disappeared.
Sorry for this, but if one of the sets of info and photos was yours, you will have to re-submit it.
“Infinite Roses” of Falmouth, Maine. 1972 C & C 27 Mk I. Beautiful boat, lovingly owned, sailed (and expensively!) rebuilt from the keel up between 1991 and 1998.
Owner (me/Richard) moved overseas (Greece and Saudi Arabia) in 2002 and sold boat to good friend (Eddie), who also loved/sailed boat. Eddie started boat-building company South U.S. with plans to use “Infinite Roses” in summers after business got off the ground. Business failed and boat was never used again. L
So a lot of great boat gear is available, and it’s going cheap, because Eddie can’t come up from South, and I’m only in States and available (son’s graduation J) for one of the days of the week of June 2nd.
So if you need boat stuff there are some great buys—and especially if you’ve got a C&C 27 you want to update. All gear is top of the line, overbought/made, has been stored/lofted indoors in heated storage.
The ‘catch’ is that I really have only a short week (and really only one day) to meet with you and sell it. (The upside is, that we’ve priced everything to “move” on that day!)
All gear is at Uncle Bob’s Storage (formerly Access Storage) on Foden Road in South Portland, Maine, where we’ll plan to meet so you can see it and choose. Please contact me early so we can make arrangements convenient to both your and my (brief!) schedule. You can contact me (Richard Harriman) as follows:
· Email: rharriman4@hotmail.com and richard.harriman@aramco.com (use both if you want to know you’re reaching me regardless of work hours/days.)
· Overseas Phones (until 28 May, when we’re arriving in Boston:
o +966 (13) 875-1614 (Home)
o +966 (13) 872-9118 (Office)
o +966 (56) 919-9246 (Mobile)
o
· From 28 May to 6 June use my U.S. mobile number: (207) 513-013390
Here’s a list of the major things, and then there’s a bunch of little stuff (life jackets, interior gear, etc.):
General Gear:
· Puffin 7.6 foot dinghy, purchased 1999. Used two seasons, and stored indoors since. Perfect condition. New $1,200. Asking $650.
· Standard Horizon VHF, New $250. Asking $50
· Raytheon GPS, Autohelm ST4000 tiller autopilot, New $2,000. Asking $400.
· 25 lbs CQR Anchor, with 125’ of chain and 250’ feet of rode. New, $1,000. Asking $400
· 10 lbs Fortress anchor with 25’ chain and 150’ rode. New, $200. Asking $75
· 10 lbs Danforth anchor with 25’ chain and 150’ rode. New, $150. Asking $50
· Full set of running rigging from Yale Cordage, Portland, Maine. New in ’99, used only 2 seasons, annually cleaned and properly stored. Includes spare halyards, sheets and docklines. $900 new. Asking $300
· Tons of other safety gear.
· Tons of cruising gear.
· Total for all of above: $1,925. Grab it all and we’ll sell the package for $1,200
C&C 27-specific gear:
· Sails, also new in 1996, and professionally cleaned, maintained and lofted every year since. Fully battened 3-reef main; 150% genny. New at $1,800/$3,600 both. Selling for $900 each or $1,600 for both. [All rigging, sails and dodger gear below made/built/installed/maintained at Bayview Rigging & Sails, Yarmouth.]
· Custom Dodger, Frame and interior cushions. $3,500 new. Asking $8,00
· Boom: 1994 custom extrusion from Metalmast of Connecticut. Three reefs and 1 outhaul, all lines internal with lines on 6:1 blocks. (Very slick, singled-handed reefing system.) New at $2,000; asking $500.
· Standing rigging. All new in 1996, and all over-sized for offshore use/conditions. $1500 new. Asking $500.
· Total for all of above: $3,600. Will sell as package for $1,500
Remarks related to the keithford site and the state of corrosion at Lasalle Park on Burlington Bay, while interesting, were a red herring that sort of hijacked the repower conversation. Accordingly, I have created a new thread, where any further corrosion-related thoughts should be expressed.
Hello,
I am looking for videos of C&C 27s in action for the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes at Kingston's upcoming New Age of Sail exhibit. Douglas Hunter suggested that we post a request on your forum. I could not register so I thought I'd send my request to you directly. Could you see that it gets to anyone who might have video they are willing to share?
All the best,
WTB: C&C 27 in good to great shape at a fair price. BC or Northwest US location preferred but would consider a more distant boat if the cost of transport was not excessive when looking at the total price. Please email: pat.mcshane [at] gmail.com (substitute both spaces and [at] to form an acceptable address).
Please do not reply in the Forum to this request as the interested persons are not Forum members and cannot reply. Contact them directly. Thank you. - Admin
After a long hiatus, the admin has a) admitted several people to the Forum and b) added some boats to the Fleet.
There should have been more boats in the Fleet, but I inadvertently lost some that I've been sitting on for months (motivation is low once the water stops being hard). If you submitted a pic and info for The Fleet, but it hasn't appeared, please re-send and I'll get them in.
- Admin
Sorry, but I have to disagree; they are very different boats, with about fifteen years and two major design rule shifts between their respective designs. Seeing a Mk V will tell you nothing about a Mark I to IV.
That said, if I wanted to trailer a boat in this range, the Mk V would be far ahead of the I to III on my interest list - lighter and with a smaller rig yet just as lively.
- Admin
Generous offer, but with all Lakes boats coming out of the water in the next two weeks, coupled with the criminal difference between cross-border airfares vs. inside-US airfares, not to mention the need for a passport, don't you think he might be well advised to wait for an offer from say, Louisiana or Florida?
C'mon, American cousins - who's up for a little show-&-tell?
Please note that we have adopted a new policy about names and signature files.
As you may know, I require a name and location when I register a new applicant to the Forum and this information goes in your profile and signature file. Names and locations are, to my way of thinking, the minimum introduction on the Forum (if you disagree and feel this is a violation of your privacy to give this information, you do not need to register).
Some people, unfortunately, have deleted this info after registration. Therefore, from now on, anyone who deletes his or her name and location, will have the rest of the Forum registration expunged. It will not be reinstated.
C&C27 Mark one, hull70. My marine surveyor said it was built when Hinterholer himself was laying up full sheets of fiberglas. It sports a red hull. I have put $20,000. worth of upgrades and add-ons. The last-year Marine Survey values it at $12,500. which is what I will take for it. It comes with a new steel cradle, a Keeble winter cover c/w frame.
It is currently moored in slip A-55, Portsmouth Harbour, Kingston.
