European C&C 27 "Homer" joins...

Hello everybody!
my name is Marco, Italian, I live in Germany and I'm the lucky owner (with my wife) of a C&C 27 Korneuburg, Homer.
We bought Homer last year in North East Netherlands (Workum) and then with the help of a friend we transferred her to Wessem (100nm on the Dutch canals)
Here is a stopmotion of the transfer, if you are interested to see it <img src="emoticons/icon_smile.gif"> it is quite long but it has good music...
here is a picture of Homer, moored in Wessem.

we will move back to Italy in 2018, and we hope that Homer will move with us. It won't be an easy transfer if we decide to make it... even because we are beginners in sailing

Sorry for my english!

Kind Regards,
Marco

The link for your stopmotion seems to have been lost. All I see is the static image at tinypic.

Your English is better than that of some of the nominally English-speaking contributors to this Forum. I expect you are also fluent in Italian (obviously) and German, with a bit of Dutch thrown in for good measure. There is no need to apologize. Welcome to the Forum.

Crikey, and I thought locking down from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario was a lot of work... you went through 20-25 locks? And didn't you love sharing a lock with a heavily laden, totally un-manoeuvrable vessel that's ten times your length and a hundred times your weight?

You got it! Sometime we were the first entering the lock, I don't know if it is normal, but in this case the lock operator at the radio said, "Please find the closest ladder and be prepared to evacuate... " and when I asked why, he said, "sometimes they (heavy laden vessels) have problems with the reverse and smash into the lock". Can you imagine me, an unexperienced sailor, dealing with my first lock; who just bought his first sailboat, hearing that response from the radio operator :-O ?
Anyway, it was really annoying the fact that they always had their propellers running fast even into the locks. On one lock I messed up with a mooring line and I lost it ... and I caused a little damage to the top of the mast :-( you can see it at minute 12 min and 30s..

Hi Marco,

Welcome to the Forum and congrats on the new boat!  I remember when I bought my first sailboat and wondered what did I get myself into. I bought my C & C last summer and really enjoy the boat.

It is amazing how many people are commenting on the boat, the C & C brand, and the 27 in particular, all favorably!

By the way, my Mother was from Trieste!
