Santiva's boom end cutout

Santiva's elliptical boom had to be cut down to the flat underlying the foot-rope groove to provide a mounting space for the outhaul block.

Within the boom, Santiva uses a 4:1 Ronstan tackle, similar to the fiddle blocks shown on the Harken site for a 4:1 internal system. Descriptive text on the index page outlines the differences between the system shown by Harken and the one used on Santiva.
