You may be right, Jim, but I note two on Yacht World that seem to be in excellent condition, one at an asking price of $13,500, which has a sale pending (or I'd buy it), and another at $15,000, the broker for which doesn't seem to want to communicate with a serious buyer. There's another not far from me here in Calgary, which unfortunately is tied up in litigation, and which would sell for not much more than $15,000, while saving me a lot of travel cost.

The market is much different, i.e., weaker, than a year ago. I bought an Aloha 8.2 then, and lost a lot on it when it sold last week despite many improvements. The saving grace is that I'll pay that much less for a boat this time around. Perhaps it's the credit/mortgage crisis in the US that has brought down used boat prices so much. Canadians, it seems, are consequently now more willing to buy south rather than pay the higher asking prices of home. In fact, three brokers told me they sold several C&Cs in the past few months to Canucks - including the aforementioned sale pending - and are no longer surprised by all the calls they get from north of the border.

I'm looking to buy, immediately, a turn key, race ready C&C 27 Mark V. It should have: * excellent condition racing sails * race smooth bottom * a faired keel would be nice * cabin and cushions must be in excellent condition * excellent condition engine * no blisters or soft deck spots * no missing rigging or anything else. I will pay $15,000 for such a boat, and more if it has an excellent trailer too. I will pay less if the boat is in excellent condition, but lacking great racing sails or otherwise needs work to race, e.g., the bottom sanded race smooth. Please contact me either at steve.blumer@gmail.com or (403) 923-0015

There is a C&C 27 Mark V for sale in Bayfield, Wisconsin, for which I haven't the owner's contact info. If you are that owner, or possibly knows who he or she is, please contact me at steve.blumer@gmail.com

Also, if anyone knows of a trailer for sale in that area, I'd be interested in that too.

Thanks,

Steve
