Several A4's I witnessed never really clicked into reverse and the skipper held the shifter back with his foot or hand and a whirl noise was heard.
Also, one time a skipper had the same phenomenon going forward and a sharp eye discovered that the raw water intake hose was interfering with the big shifter lever down in the engine compartment.

Good Luck

No problems using Composting Toilet in the Great Lakes?

The Canadians seem to want a hose and deck fitting for pump out.

My friend drinks the water in the GL.

Does anybody know of any dumpsters where discarded "hank-On" jibs or genoas are resting?

Hopefully ones that will take me to finish line and a bit of hardware!

Hi

I have a new mainsail.

I need Logo and Numbers.

Any recommendations (in Canada)?

My old sail had beautiful sewn on jobbies.

Nowadays they use stickers.

Maybe the shop could mail them to me.

#13 Re: General discussion » Prop puller » 2016-12-29 13:03:25

My boat's stern should walk to starboard in reverse (Left Hand Screw)

but it doesn't. Instead she just goes straight backwards like an

arrow...perhaps because the prop shaft shoots out to port by design.

I can still turn her on a dime in a short space though with fwd and

rev action.

David

You were correct.

7/8" Shaft for my Yanmar YSM12.

Also Left Hand screw.

I scored a new Martec MKII (New Old Stock) 1" bore.

There is a company producing bushings to reduce the prop bore size.

http://www.propshopinc.com/Propeller-Bushing-7-8-Shaft-Anchor-Bushings-p19.html

Going to give a go. Hope the Yanmar can spin the 14" folder (9" Pitch).

#17 Re: General discussion » Adding a second battery » 2016-08-21 02:05:31

Hi Marc

My C&C 27 has her batteries to port, strapped side by side to a shelf with access from the port cockpit locker. They are located tight up against the lower half bulkhead that separates the engine room (and tiller flats)from the cabin. The big red battery switch is mounted on the same bulkhead close to the batteries with the face of the switch appearing on the cabin side of the bulkhead.
Some boats may have their batteries mounted more forward, on the sole of the boat, beside the engine, with access through the cabin engine room panel behind the companionway ladder.

Not sure which is optimal (for racing!).

Thanks very much for your experience.

Maybe a track is the way to go, more fastening points

into the mast.

#21 Re: General discussion » wheel mounted autopilot » 2016-05-17 12:54:31

I have a wheel.

But I use a Tiller Pilot with adapter (from an old Tillermaster)

Works like a charm.

Less complicated and less expense.

I have a spare on board.

Both are Simrad TP10 and bought used.

These units are robust, less complicated and easy to disengage (physically lift off at adapter end).

Great that you saved a catastrophe.
