You're replying to a message that's ten years old and whose author is no longer on the Forum (a non-bold name indicates a deleted account ). Have you tried eBay for "Morse marine control" or something like that? There's a lot of marine hardware in flea markets and eBay is the most accessible.

If anyone in your forum would like to sell a Genoa #1 or #2 please contact me at doorctydc@gmail.com
Prefer older heavy duty for cruising and day sailing than racing sails.

I would like to replace my stove. The previous owner converted it to kerosene and it worked for me for a while but now the burners have stopped functioning. I don't have much patience for kerosene. I wonder if anyone can tell me where I can get an alcohol stove that fits and works, whether it be pressure or gravity-fed.
Any assistance here would be much appreciated. I'm on my second season with Aragorn, and I'm looking forward a thirty-day cruise later this summer with my wife who is a keen cook, but a novice sailor.
Thank you,
John
I have a 130% Genoa off of my (formerly mine) C&C 27 Mark 3. The sail is located in New Jersey and can be shipped at buyers expense or picked up. I am asking $400. Pictures can be provided on request. It is a hank on and has had very light use. In 7 years I only had it up twice. It does have sail numbers on it.

Did a quick search in the forum to see if anyone has reported installing a composting toilet on a C&C 27, but got "0" returns.
Same thing for water filtration systems.
Our '73 Mk II has the original holding tank bladder that is full and hard as a rock. Am close to ordering a composting toilet. The original potable water tank under the V-berth had been converted to a holding tank.
Also looking into simply using lake water that has been run through a filtering system. A number of race boats use them, but didn't find any info in my search on the forum.
Anyone who could share their experiences?
Many thanks,
Phil Peterson

Thank you for the appreciative comments.
Following the suggestion above, I have sent a request for proposals to the CNCPhoto list. I don’t imagine there will be a response as the concerns expressed on that site are very different from ours, but who knows?

This site has been running since 1999 — and the Forum since 2000. I thought it was a rotten idea initially; I thought it would soon fill up with the nattering of loudmouths, but following the example of my Latin teacher who ensured thoughtful effort by slugging miscreants with a heavy textbook, we kept discussion polite and respectful. That was then. Since then, we have developed an informed and informing community that helps us get things done on our wonderful little 27’s.
But… it’s time for a change. Put simply, I don’t want to run this site any more. I like reading it, I like writing answers to questions that I can answer and I like reading the ideas and suggestions that others propose, but I don’t want to manage the stagecraft behind it. And unfortunately no one in the present 27 Assoc. has the web skills, rudimentary though they are, that I have. So, here are our options:
- Shut it down (the get-while-the-going’s-good option).
- Lock it, but keep it running in read-only form until the money runs out (we can’t let it run itself, because the Forum will fill up with thousands of spam messages again - remember those?). You’ll be able to read existing messages but not post nor sign up as a new participant.
- Restrict it to currently signed-up participants (again, a response to the spammers lurking out there, but one that gives some options to the current crew).
- Hand the whole shebang off to one of you to run as you think fit. To do it, you’ll have to have some writing and editing skills (they’re out there - I’ve seen excellent writing here). You’ll need web skills - some HTML and CSS are important to keep the main pages running. The Forum at present needs a certain amount of jockeying, but the big issue, for the sake of your sanity is that ToastForums, on which our Forum runs, is utterly obsolete, feature-poor and clunky (the company has been gone since 2005). At some point soon, it will break, so the new management will have to figure out how to transition the legacy posts to a newer bb package (because our old posts still have tremendous value) and get the new package running smoothly. This is not terribly difficult work, but it will be time-consuming and, probably, exasperating. Don’t say you haven’t been warned.
We’d like to hear from you: which option we have presented that you like or dislike; which option that occurs to you that we haven’t thought of; and even which option that you’d like to take and run with. We’d like to move on this, so don’t dawdle.

Years ago, a defence contractor employee told me about being summoned to a frigate in the Rio de Janeiro naval dockyard because an anti-aircraft missile launcher on the vessel was failing its test routines. He found the captain on his knees in front of the open fire-control panel, poking at connections to see if he could tell if there was power as sparks would come off them. He very diplomatically told the captain that this might launch a couple of missiles into the city and was therefore not an ideal troubleshooting method.
This story notwithstanding, I have been trying to repair the damage done during the long Xmas outage by doing something akin to what the captain was attempting. I don't know what the guys at the web host did to the site during the outage, and I'm not sure they know either. I've scanned and patched up a lot of the site, but as you'll understand, time is short at this time of the year. So, help please. If you find anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
Thank you.

We have run out of Association flags. The new flags are now so expensive that the first year's membership would be little more than a break-even proposition. What to do -- jam the price of membership into the stratosphere? Or drop the flags?
Our sense is that while many people value the sense of community and that the flag is a nice reminder of that, the real value in the Association is our Forum and the information it delivers. So,,, we are going to keep the membership fee as it is, $25.00, and stop including flags with the new membership. We hope that everyone is happy with that.
Oh, and while we're on the subject, spring is the time to consider joining or renewing a membership that keeps all those good C&C 27 ideas coming. Do it today before you get too involved with the object of your affections. http://www.cc27association.com/member.html

The best way to post is to write a description of your boat's salient features then simply post it here with a simple descriptive title like "For Sale: 19xx C&C 27 Mk X". Proof-read your submission carefully. Include, if you like, links to photos of your boat that you have previously posted on a photo-sharing site. Don't forget to say where the boat is. That's pretty much it.

Note that each thread bears a date for the last entry. By applying one's analytical powers, one can discern that, indeed, people are using this Forum. Not as much as in the past, but they are using it.
The diminution in use is fairly easy to understand. First, this Forum is searched a fair bit (there's 17 years of experience stored here) and I think people often find what they're looking for without posting a question.
Moreover, if someone doesn't find an answer but isn't registered on the Forum, there's a reluctance to make the effort to register and thus be allowed to post. Many of the requests received are incomplete; if the person is asked to complete the required info, in half the instances, they never respond. Is that bad for the Forum? Bad for the numbers, yes, but I do notice that since I started making people apply for registration, the number of blowhards and idiots has dropped effectively to zero. That's a huge net positive in my opinion.
Whether it is good or bad is in any case irrelevant; curated registration is imperative. If you were using the Forum some years back, you'll remember the tidal wave of spam that all but overwhelmed us. So, we will chunter along as we have - not a busy board, but one that seems to provide a service to those who use it.
