Moyer Marine has them. Most auto supply stores have them too. Just make sure they are the correct diameter -- usually 2 1/8 inch diameter
I took mine out and put in a volt meter and eliminated two very long wires that carried much of the boat current. As long as the engine is running, the voltage should be 12.5 to 13.5 volt and I know the alternator is working.

Yes, the groove where the clew slide keeps getting popped out.
The ski strap was from Mountain Equipment Co-op has kept the clew slot from coming out for several years, but I thought (wrongly) that the internal outhaul would pull "down" so I would not need the strap. Obviously I was wrong.
I guess I will put the strap back on. The strap does look quite strong. But then I have been wrong before.
The Harken 106 and 302 are supposed to be for wire. I had noticed the sheave on the block being chewed up. I will try the new Harken 302 with the same wire and follow up with the forum.
I was very happy with the internal outhaul .. for six weeks !

With great help and support from Ken Pole, I have implemented the internal outhaul this winter and have been very happy with it until this weekend when the Harken 106 block broke. See pictures at:

I plan to switch to a Harken 302 which was also recommended in the Harken rigging tips.

Thanks Alan.
The handle has been installed and now a part of your boat is now in Montreal.
Thanks

Okay, did not see any boat survive with the mast down.

My 1975 MKIII has a track installed on top of the old track and the Harken windward car works very well.

I am putting in an internal outhaul and looking at how to do the exit. It looks like David has an exit block at the bottom of the boom near the gooseneck running down through two blocks to the rope clutches.
My question is is there any changes to outhaul tension when you tack or when you let the boom out as you veer offwind.
THanks for the pics. It answered some questions.

It is a work in progress.
Sofar for the starboard, materials (core, epoxy, glass, interprtect, etc) is $600. Labour to get to this point is 45 hours. Without going into "details" about pricing, it is somehwere between 30 to 50 dollars an hour. All prices are Canadian exclusive of taxes.
A significant amount of time was spent getting rid of the uncured epoxy from a previous job. Mushy epoxy clogs the grinding wheels.
Yes, the marine plywood is for the genoa track
There is still final flaring, painting and putting the track back on.The finishing on Cygnus is not the original non-skid pattern, so they will not have to recreate the original pattern.

Cygnus - MKIII Hull 518 has had water leaking for several years. Naturally this has led to wet balsa and water in the bilge. I am currently having her starboard deck recored.
I was not up to doing this myself, so I gave the job to a local boat yard starting in early October 2009.
The starboard side has been done except for painting by the end of October and the foredeck will be done in early spring. We decided that we would not open the foredeck and risk running out of Indian Summer (a warm November) to finish the job. (We are in Montreal)
I am posting the photos of the job to document the process at this <a title="Cygnus recoring" href="http://picasaweb.google.com/mrallanwong/CygnusCoreJob?feat=directlink">link</a>
When it is all done, I can offer to contibute this to the black arts.

Yes, currently I am an evil offender ... leaving the stick up... In fact, one of the hardest part of the process is wrapping the tarp around six shrouds.

Someone might have run a wire or line up and left this there to run future lines.

I have a neighbour in the shipyard who removes his lower shrouds on his CC27 MKIII for winter storage. This makes it much easier to put the winter cover on.
Does anyone have any comments on this practice?

Here is an update.
We used an easy out to take out the remainder of the grase cup, cleaned it with acetone. Then inserted a standard brass fitting and epoxied it in place. Then we installed a hose for remote greasing.
I am not sure if the brass fitting was 1/4 or 3/8.

I am starting to get a few of these. I will never buy from someone who spams.
Thanks for this post. I just discovered the same problem with 1975 C&C27. I am thinking I would drill a much smaller hole maybe about 1/4 inchesAllan

After owning my CC-27 for four years, I just discovered the rudder
grease cup. And it has rusted away. I was wondering if anyone else has
seen this?
I put my finger in the end and the hole is full of grease.
Any suggestions on how the grease fitting can be replaced?Allan

I had a short where the wiring harness came in touch with the exhaust system. It melted insulation and casued a short. For me the guaged acted funny.
Be carefull if you have an elecric feul pump as it might be running continally and if the carbarator float fails, you could have a bilge full of gas (if you had the Atomic 4)Allan

I need (want) to install a small rope clutch on the boom for the external outhual. Can I just drill and tap two 10-24 and screw the rope clutch or do I have to put in a backing plate inside the boom?
It does not seem easy to remove the end cap (near the goose neck and working down the inside of the tube. Comments?
I have MKIII with a round boom.

I bought my Quantum main for my MK3 in the lower 2000's last winter. It was made in Toronto. Normally you can negotiate better in the winter.

I have a similar problem where the slot of my boom at the clew has spread apart. I am going to try using a velcro to hold it close to the boom and the outhaul pulls it aft.

I did some searching, but I could not confirm the packing size for a Mk III with 7/8 shaft.
Anybody can confirm packing size?
