Rigging Reefing System

I'd like to install a reefing system in our MkIII that can be operated from cockpit.   Are there kits available that you have had good experience with?    Are there other helpful posts that i have overlooked in this forum?

Steve,

How are you reefing now ? My mark 3 boom came with the blocks on it to run tack lines back to the cockpit via the deck organizer and rope clutch.

Re: Rigging Reefing System

Thanks Gerard

Your diagram is most useful.

Appears I am missing the pulleys on the boom. Are these internal within the boom?    When i get to boat, i will take a closer look to see how they might install.

Steve,

look for me in the yard @ EYC . i'm sanding a F-27 there , i sanded a CS 30 there and have a few other jobs on the go at your club so look for me and i'll take a look at your boom . you should really only need to add a couple of blocks .Maybe loose the Halyard you never use to open a spot in the clutch

Re: Rigging Reefing System

OK.  Now that temp is above 0, I studied the boom.   I see I do have provision for reefing line pulleys at each end of boom.   Excuse naive question, but how do I thread reefing line through the boom  (PO must have removed).  Have thought of a gravity assisted approach where i climb some stairs, put boom vertical and drop line through.

Thanks

Thanks Gerard

Perhaps I can do a visit to Bronte this summer and take a look at your set-up.
