For Sale - Harken Furler

For Sale:

Mark 1 Unit 0 Harken furling gear. Originally installed on a C&C 27 Mark III.

Drum assembly, integral turnbuckle, 7/16" diameter toggle, torque tube, halyard swivel.

Approximately 37-1/2 feet total length, but the top 4-inches or so of the foil is damaged. The foil is still assembled and the forestay is still installed but the top portion of the forestay is damaged as well. Foil would have to be trimmed back to a shorter length and new forestay installed. However, when it was removed from the boat, there was some spare foil length under the bottom collar.

The furler is date stamped 1993 but the rigger who installed my new unit deemed this one to be in very good condition.

Located in Sidney, British Columbia ... 5-minute walk down the road to a local marina, so easy to transport the furler to your boat.

Asking $400

Re: For Sale - Harken Furler

Any interest in disassembling, boxing up, and shipping it? I would realize that the cost would increase for that.  I can be reached at: one more jeff at g mail dot com. No spaces in the email.

Thanks,
Jeff

Re: For Sale - Harken Furler

Do you need to have your headsails recut and converted from hank-on? If so it  most likely gets easier as you wouldn't need to find any additional foil since lost 6-inches or so from damaged section could be accounted for in the sail. Also if your forestay is new(er) I think it could be shortened and new swaged eye installed since length is reduced to account for the drum and toggle.
See my ad on usedvictoria for pictures and more info.

Re: For Sale - Harken Furler

No, I wouldn't alter my current headsail, it's ripped but repairable so I'll repair and keep it for interim use.  My working jib and main are also old and in need of replacement due to duct-taped rips and lack of tear strength so I am looking into ordering new sails, This is just part of my research, you know, shall I go from hank-on to furling at this point?
My forestay is the original.

Re: For Sale - Harken Furler

Well with an original forestay ... I'd look at replacing it.

Doyle sails in Nanoose would be the closest to you ... but don't forget UK Sails and Leitch & McBride down here in Sidney. Leitch & McBride did a real nice job on my genoa last year.
