1985 Mark V - Morse Steering Cable Broken

Hello,

I have a 1985 Mark V, and the plastic sheath on my steering cable is broken (Morse model # 300-631-120, 120 inches in length).  They do not make these anymore, and the custom guy I talked to said he could make me one with 1.5 inches LESS travel.

will this cable work with the shorter travel?  Will I be loose too much rudder angle?

Anyone know of a company that makes the old Morse style cables?

Should i try to convert to a tiller instead?  Seems like other options are to change the steering altogether to rack and pinion or hydraulic...

Thanks,
