#2 Re: General discussion » Boarding Ladder » 2022-02-07 13:09:57

On Distant Thunder we extended the original stern ladder by adding an additional 3 step extension hinged on the original. Works great. Klako in St Catherine’s did the work.

#4 Re: General discussion » C&C 27 MKV chainplate cover rebed » 2021-03-05 17:54:41

Hi
You are correct - it is one solid piece with with the flange on the deck on top and the Cain plate bolted to the bulkhead below
If I remember correctly one of the fasteners is a screw not a bolt.
It’s pretty easy to unbolt it, pry it out, clean off the old bedding and then rebel it.
Some 5200 remover spray will make it go faster

a question from a new owner of a 1978 MK III

The boat is finally in the water after about 14 months of repair and going over things. Hoping to cruise Penobscott Bay in two weeks assuming no major hiccups.

One thing I noticed is that the mast butt is not permanently attached to the partners (it’s just retained by a couple pins - one fire and one aft).

Is that a common set up?  I pounded a couple of wooden shims in side to side to keep the mast twisting in partner channel wondering if I should do something more.

Thanks for your help.  Learning much my doing...

from a former owner missing hius C&C 27:

I’m just curious to know what happened to our C&C 27. I don’t have a hull number. It was a 1980 model with steering wheel and Atomic 4. We owned it from 1987-1997 here in Vancouver.

Name was “Cloud 9”. Navy blue hull.

I don’t think we were ever members of the association. It may have been raced occasionally at the RVYC Wed night summer series or Sunday winter “hot rum” series.

I know this is a long shot, but I’m just curious to know if it’s still sailing, under what name, and what general geography (Seattle, Vancouver, Victoria, etc). No agenda other than that.

Thank you for any info you can provide!

I am actually also looking for help and suggestions for my gori  proP.   When it is in reverse it opens up past 180 degrees (more like 250-270 degrees).  As a result it is very difficult to Manöver the boat in reverse.

I was wondering if there was help to fix this ?

#10 Re: General discussion » 27 MK V rudder structure » 2019-11-05 09:14:57

Hi
It is a Fiberglass outer shell - the join is at the leading edge of the rudder
Top part out of the water is painted white over the fiberglass
I believe the interior is foam

Posting this for an owner of a MK2:

Hello there.
I am trying to find out the distance from the center of the end of the 7/8 shaft to the hull please so that I know how big a propeler i need to buy.
I also am trying to find out the exact width of the key way thats on the taper of the shaft.
I’ve looked everywhere in the forum and black arts and have gotten nowhere! Can you please help me with this information or point me in the right direction? It would be greatly appreciated.

Hello there.
I currently own a C&C 27’ MK 2 1974.
I have recently changed the atomic 4 for a yanmar 1 gm.
The original pop doesn’t work for the diesel engine rpm. I’m looking for the specs of the cone end of the 7/8” shaft in order to order a fixed two blade prop.
I havent taken the prop off since im still in the water but until I do that I would like to get the specs that way i can have the new prop ready for when i get hauled to change it.
Could you please give me any information you have or point me in the right direction please. It would be very much appreciated.
Thank you in advance and best regards

#20 Re: General discussion » Spinnaker Crane MkV » 2017-09-18 05:11:00

hi
I have done that, but it's at the top of the mast right now so hard to photograph
essentially a U-shape SS bracket about 6" long, bolted to the mast head.
we hang a swivel block from the crane, and run the spinnaker halyard through the block, then through the mast sheaves
it keeps the halyard from binding on the plastic sheaves and wearing flat spots in them

The Etobicoke Yacht Club Open Regatta will be sailed August 26 & 27, 2017

There will be a C&C 27 MK V fleet of at least six boats, maybe more, so the competition will be good.  Marks 1/2/3/4 are also welcome and can join in the fun.

We will have an after race party Saturday for all C&C 27s that are racing, and award the C&C 27 MK V Canadian Championship Trophy on Sunday.

Saturday is course racing, and Sunday will be one course race followed by a distance race around Humber Bay.  You can register for one or two days, white sail or flying sails.

Come race!

Cheers,

Jim

#22 Re: General discussion » Too Much Wind » 2017-05-26 10:33:50

Hi
never too much wind for a MKV - they love it!
we race, and run three head sails (no roller furling)
0 - 13 Knots we use a 155% #1
12 - 18 knots we use a 140% #2
>18 we use a 100% # 3

the boat is always fastest if there is wind for a #2, and we reef the main at 17-18 knots before switching to the 3

Hi
Flags cost $25.00 - which is our cost including postage.
Unfortunately, I have run out of stock, and would like to gauge the interest of members before re-ordering as it is a minimum order of 25 flags.  So, let's wait a bit and see if anyone else is interested.
OK?

Hello fellow C&C 27 MKV owners

The MKV Class will have a meet & greet & planning meeting

Thursday December 8th at Etobicoke Yacht Club

7:00 to 9:00 PM

The agenda is casual: we would like to get better organized for those boats that race competitively.  We would like to see if there is interest in a bit of casual white sail racing for those boats that are cruiser/racers..  And we welcome the chance to compare notes on boats, upgrades, common repair issues, and anything else of interest to MKV owners.

The event is free, but we would appreciate an R.S.V.P. so we know the numbers.

Cheers !
