#76 Re: General discussion » cutless bearing » 2009-01-28 07:20:42

Thanks Marcus

The prop shaft doesnt wiggle at all in the bearing,so hopefully some 4200 should suffice. Do you think I should dig out the crack area in a V then apply the 3M?

I was surpised to search posts and not see anything about a cutless bearing. Humm. Quick ? In thinking spring and eyeing the boat ,I notices some stress cracks around the strut that supports the prop shaft holding the bearing, where it attaches to the hull. Any thoughts, concerns?

Thanks

[You didn't find anything because every post I found (searching the term "bearing") uses the spelling "cutlass". Our search function isn't smart enough to find variant spellings the way Google does. I think "cutless" is correct, but even the people who make the things acknowledge the confusion and use both forms. - Admin]

Is there such a thing as an off the shelf bimini top for the 27,or someone who has made a few that could just send the parts with an instal sheet. Or is my lack of experience in canvas products showing.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the replys. Dont know what I would do without this site. Sometimes the simple things stop me,but I saw Capricous had the vynl wire and like to keep things stock. Ill check fabric stores.

Thanks

["Dont know what I would do without this site." A sterling sentiment - I couldn't have said it better - and it's a feeling shared by many. Here's a hint though, to all present and future members of the Association - next time you are overwhelmed by tears of unremitting gratitude for this site, remember that "information wants to be free", but bandwidth is billed monthly, so don't reach for a Kleenex, go find your chequebook. - Admin (who is winding himself up for the annual membership drive)]

Now that I replaced my portlights, curtains are mandatory. Where would one get a vynl coated spring to span the window from which to go through some fabric? Or is there a better way. I wanted to use the screws that are on either sides of the windows.

Thanks

#83 Re: General discussion » keel » 2008-12-24 03:35:26

Thanks Marcus

My keel has some pockets that I have been trying(successfully) to smooth out, thought not in the area with rust. Youre dissimalier metal idea makes perfect sense, and I will dble check it in the spring. Again thanks and happy holidays

I noticed today, while looking at the boat, and dreaming of going for a nice sail out of Salem sound, that there was rust streaking down from the rear of the keel. Is that(does anyone know) from a support of the lead, and should it be seperately addressed in the spring?

Thanks and Merry Xmas

Replaced the gas gauge and sending unit per instructions from this forum, but the gauge reads full? I have a good lead to the sender and have the gauge wired correctly,(its in line with the temp and oil pressure ) I also know that the tank is allmost empty

Thanks in advance

I have a 1976 Mark 3 I have just bought this fall(cant wait for this winter to be over)and think I should upgrade to fresh water cooling, but dont have the 2 inches in front of the panel under the companionway stair. Is there an old thread with a picture or solution?
thanks
