Hello,
Yes, it looks like an uncommon problem. And an ignorant suggestion, perhaps, could lead to a major problem.
You can try to post the question on the stus-list on http://www.cncphotoalbum.com/. It is a very active C&C mailing list rather than a forum.
What Mark version is you C&C? There is a group for MkV in facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/MKVowners
and also a C&C group https://www.facebook.com/groups/666179806815705
I hope you are able to solve this challenging issue.
Kind regards,
Pablo
A few years ago I looked into that. The floor is not solid teak, it is plywood with a layer of teak. They sale teak veneer rolls. The size of each roll was a lot larger than the size of our boats floor.
Something like that: http://www.noahsmarine.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=th18.
Hello,
Based on the pictures, it looks like you are concern about the starboard chainplate. To my understanding, the load of the chain plate is loaded on the bulkhead. The fiberglass plays a minor role. I do not know whether the chainplate is original or proper for the mast (I have a MkV). However probably the crack in the picture, is insinuating that the core of the fiberglass is in bad shape.
If you want to be sure about the condition of the boat and what you need to fix, the best is to hire a surveyor. It is highly likely that in order to insure the sailboat you will need a survey. So probably you will end up paying the surveyor anyways.
Kind regards,
Pablo
Hello,
The diameter of the shaft of my 1986 MkV is 7/8"
However, it would be nice to have a confirmation that all the MkV comes with the same shaft. There is an old post in this site
https://www.cc27association.com/f4/view … hp?id=6443 that said that eventually some MkV could have 1" shaft.

Hello,
Welcome to the C&C 27 world!
In my MkV, I still have the probably original Standard Horizon Deep Sounder. Regarding the speed meter, before changing it, I made sure that the new Thru-Hull Transducer was going to fit exactly in the same hole as the old one, to avoid dealing with your problem. Both thru-hulls are near the engine and the sink compartments. The location is not optimal. The speed paddle can be affected potentially by turbulence from the keel and when I am heeling on port side, the speed meter barely measures something. I believe that the manual of the ST40 suggests installing it in from of the keel. The deep sounder location shows me that it is too shallow when it is too late. Another sailor, that has the deep sounder in front of the keel, told me that it does not make any difference to know it is too shallow, a fraction of second before it is too late.
You can find some other responses to your question in the “black arts” section http://www.cc27association.com/fixes/fixes.html or searching in the forum for the keyword “transducer” clicking "search" in the menu above

Hello Pierre,
Yes. It is in a pdf in the section " Sea Change - MkV " in the link http://www.cc27association.com/vchange.html.
The pdf is "tuning guide" http://www.cc27association.com/pdf/mkv/MkV-Tuning.pdf. Pages 5 and 6.

Thank you!
I just received the K1000 a few minutes ago (it was on sale and I rushed to buy it). It is excellent to know it is the right model.
Thank you for the installation advice. Currently the mast is un-stepped, so I will start to study the situation before the sailing season starts.
Cheers
Pablo
Hello,
I am aiming to buy a boomkicker for my MkV from this company:
https://www.boomkicker.com/bk_specs.html
I believe that the K1000 is the right one for the MkV. However if someone already bought it, it would be great to have a confirmation.
Kind regards
Pablo
Hello,
Probably the C&C25s share lots of features and challenges with C&C27s and you can find partial answers to your questions here.
The http://www.cncphotoalbum.com/ has a very active EMAIL DISCUSSION LIST (scroll down to the bottom of the the webpage) where probably you can meet other owners.

Hello,
if you live in Ontario, I have had good experiences with Skipper's plan (https://skippersplan.com/).

Hello,
Sorry to hear about your accident and happy to know that nobody was injured.
My MkV and I went through the same experience a few years ago: Mast broken at spreaders.
I was able to rescue the parts of the mast, practically all the rigging and sails (with minor damages) from the water. It was positive not only to save the sails but also for helping with the insurance investigation. Basically, the insurance sent a marine surveyor to determine the reasons of the accident.
Do not panic, do not rush looking for alternatives, wait for the insurance verdict.
Best of luck,
Pablo
Ps: ask again if unfortunately needed.
In my 1986 C&C 27 the Deck & Steaming light combination looks like a Aqua Signal Series 25 (https://ca.binnacle.com/p1384/Aqua-Sign … _info.html)
Hello,
I do not know the name, but the description is clear enough. Give a phone call to Klacko; https://www.klackospars.com/

Are you observing this with the boat in the water or on the hard?
Hello Steven,
I have never seen an Atomic 4 in my life. But seeing that you are anxious about starting to play with your engine I can speak about my amateur experience with my jeep ZJ 97 4.0L.
I did not use my ZJ for 5 years, and one day I decided to turn it on, just to check. I read on the internet and saw videos on YouTube and I found that people suggested changing the oil and the fuel. I started to think about the mess of changing the fuel as you are doing now. I imagined the situation, and at the end, I decided to change only the oil. I put new a cheap oil and a new oil filter. I took a fire extinguisher in one hand (just in case), the keys of the car in the other, and the old Jeep started nicely at the first attempt. No need to change the fuel.
If you are worried about water condensation in the fuel tank, again in my amateur opinion without deep knowledge, perhaps you can use fuel antifreeze (https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/cert … 2311p.html). I used occasionally that preemptively in both my old ZJ and my Yanmar 1GM10 in my MkV.
Just to share my experience,
Regards,
Pablo
When I bought my MkV in the year 2009, it had one year old dacron sails Rolly Tasker which were imported from abroad by the previous owner. I know that because the customs documents were in the boat.
Fourteen years later (some of them of intensive use), the main sail still works (I added a 3rd row of reef points in 2018), the 170% looks like new (barely used) (both were rescued with minimal damage after I was dismasted in 2016). The 155% was damaged after a few squalls in 2019. But it was very weakened because I rolled it in the wrong direction in the furling for a few years (it means I protected the UV filter with the sail!). In summary they are durable sails if you are going to cruise.
If you are going to race, probably there are better options around. I am moving now to higher profile brands. Moreover, I like the concept of having a closer relationship with the sailmaker. I will inform in 14 years the results. Another detail, for unknown reasons, my Rolly Tasker main sail is very small ( 94% of the standard in the PHRF-LO). It does not touch the backstay as I heard the racing sails should touch. If you are going to order you may want to check the dimensions that you would like. My main sail is crosscut with standard battens. But again for performance oriented sails I would prefer to have a closer relationship with a local sailmaker.

I have never noted before that my MkV has a different ladder and on the opposite side ( starboard ) than most of the other MkVs (pictures below)
I believe that something like this could work: http://www.mavimare.com/en/boarding-lad … del-141_26. I will measure L1 and L2 next time I will go to visit my boat. it is currently too cold here in QC to go very often.
I have never felt it moves in my MkV. However, I guess that the water under it should be able to drain into the bilge, so I would expect an empty space below it.
Hello,
I am curious, has anyone measured the height of the MkV from the water level to the top of the VHF antenna?
Thanks
Pablo
you are welcome!
Enjoy,
Pablo
Hello,
I am looking for a good deal in a used in very good condition jib/genoa 155% for roller furling for my C&C27 MkV.
I can pick it up in GTA, some areas of Southern Ontario, along Quebec Autoroute 20, or Montreal or Chambly area.
Please email me to singlehandedsailor@bell.net
Thanks
Pablo
